CLERMONT, Fla. — NIACC closed out its spring break trip Saturday with a 10-6 win over the Anderson University JV before a 9-1 loss to Highland Community College. The split meant the Lady Trojans finished 4-4 for their spring break trip.

"Regardless of what our records shows we got a lot better and I'm excited to see where this takes us," NIACC coach Christi Weiser said.

Perhaps the week's MVP for NIACC, Morgan Thesing-Ritter was red-hot throughout. After a 4-for-4 performance in Saturday's opener, Theising-Ritter added a pair of hits in the loss vs. Highland. For the week, Thesing-Ritter finished 23 for 31 and only failed to reach base seven times.

"Just the quality of at-bats for her were unbelievably high," Weiser said. "When you have a kid like that step into the lead-off spot who just wants to get on base, it instills confidence in everybody else."

Jenni King wrapped up a solid week for NIACC with three hits vs. Anderson. Courtney Johannes added three RBIs in the win and Shay Vesel knocked in two runs.

NIACC (9-7) travels to Marshalltown Community College on Thursday.
