Trent Smith Invitational set for Friday
MASON CITY - The third annual Trent Smith Invitational is set for Friday on the NIACC campus.
The women's five-kilometer race starts at 4:30 p.m. with the men's 8K race to follow.
The teams competing will be Buena Vista, Concordia University-St. Paul, DMACC, Faith Baptist College, Grand View University, Hawkeye CC, Indian Hills, Iowa Central, Iowa Wesleyan, Minnesota State-Mankato, Minnesota-Duluth, NIACC, Southwest Minnesota State, Southwestern CC and Waldorf University.
LAST TIME OUT: The NIACC men placed 16th in the Arkansas Chile Pepper Festival on Oct. 5 in Fayetteville, Ark. The Trojans, who are ranked 15th in NJCAA Divison I poll, accumlated 442 points in the 8-kilometer II race.
NIACC was led by Jorge Ruiz, who was 55th in a time of 26 minutes, 59 seconds. Other counting scores for the Trojans were Janvier Irakoze (84th in 27:23), Aidan Bauermeister (87th in 27:25), Jalen Petersen (102nd in 27:40) and Dawson Schmidt (124th in 27:58).
