NIACC falls to Marshalltown CC, 11-10

MARSHALLTOWN - The NIACC baseball team dropped an 11-10 non-conference decision to Marshalltown CC on Wednesday.
NIACC led 6-1 after four innings, but Marshalltown outscored the Trojans 10-4 over the final five frames to claim the one-run victory.
Right-hander Evan Reifert started and pitched 4 1/3 innings before being relieved by Tyson Tucker. Reifert struck out eight, walked five and allowed three runs on three hits.
NIACC received home runs from Fox Leum, Jacob Hansen and Ross Cochran.
Cochran was 5 for 5 with two RBIs and scored three runs. The five hits by Cochran is tied for the second most in the Travis Hergert era, which started in 2013.
Before Wednesday, the last time a NIACC player recorded five hits in a game was Ezequias Encarnacion against Tyler JC on March 11, 2018.
Also for the Trojans, Anthony Catalano collected three hits.
NIACC (20-21 overall, 9-11 in the ICCAC) returns to action Friday at home against Iowa Central (26-16, 13-7) in an ICCAC doubleheader starting at 4 p.m. at Roosevelt Field. The Trojans also host Iowa Central in a Sunday twinbill.
