MASON CITY - The NIACC baseball team split a pair of games that started on Friday night and ended early Saturday morning.
Kirkwood won the opener 10-6 and NIACC took the second game 3-2 in 10 innings.
Heading into Saturday afternoon's twinbill at Roosevelt Field, NIACC (30-15 overall) sits in third place in the ICCAC with a 11-7 mark.
No. 13 Southeastern (34-14 overall) and Kirkwood (30-13 overall) are tied for first in the league with 12-6 marks. DMACC swept Southeastern on Friday 6-3 and 7-4.
In Friday's first game, Kirkwood won on the strength of a three home run, six RBI performance from Ross Kramer, who hit a grand slam in the fifth inning.
NIACC's Brandon Michie and Mitch Neunborn hit back-to-back home runs in the fifth inning.
In the second game, NIACC tied the game with two runs in the ninth inning on a 2-RBI single by Connor Enochs and won the game when Neunborn scored from third in the 10th inning on a wild pitch by Kirkwood's Kaden Wadle.
Reliever Chase Stewart (3-1) gained the win for the Trojans in the second game. Stewart did not allow a run in two innings of work.
NIACC starter Tyler Lien allowed two unearned runs with 11 strikeouts and four walks in 7 2/3 innings of work. The 11 strikeouts is tied for fifth most in the Travis Hergert era.
