Large School West wins all-star series opener, 9-4
MASON CITY - The Large School West squad topped the Small School West team 9-4 in the first game of the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association all-star series Thursday night at Roosevelt Field.
The Large School West team scored four runs in the first inning, plated two runs in the third inning and pushed across single runs in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings.
Fort Dodge's Cainen Hiracheta drove in three runs to lead the Large School West squad. He drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the first inning and plated two runs with a double in the third inning.
Urbandale's Ross Kramer gained the win for the Large School West. Kramer struck out three and walked six in five innings of work.
