NIACC women place 16th at nationals
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The NIACC women's cross country team placed 16th at the NJCAA Division I national meet on Saturday with 507 points.
Iowa Central claimed the women's national title with 60 points on the University of New Mexico North Golf Course. New Mexico JC was second with 107 points and El Paso CC was third with 125 points.
The 16th-place finish by the NIACC women was the highest for the Lady Trojans since they were 13th in 2014. It is the sixth time in school history that the NIACC women have placed in the top 20.
Sophomore Emma Davison led the NIACC women with a 45th place finish in a time of 20 minutes, 2 seconds on the 5-kilometer course. Davison placed 62nd at the national meet as a freshman.
Other counting scores for the Lady Trojans were Paula Jimenez (77th in 20:45), Whitney Martin (126th in 21:26), Miricle Corbo (150th in 21:53) and Alana Wickering (173rd in 22:24).
Also for NIACC, Cecelia Hemsworth was 187th in 22:46 and Ashley Kriener was 256th in 24:44.
