NIACC women place 23rd at national meet
GARDEN CITY, Kan. - The NIACC women's cross country team placed 23rd at the NJCAA Division I national meet on Saturday with 594 points.
Iowa Central claimed the team title with 45 points and El Paso CC was second with 70 points. Hawkeye CC was eighth with 346 points, Indian Hills was 32nd with 902 points and Southwestern was 36th with 987 points.
El Paso CC's Evelyn Kemboi was the individual champion in a time of 18 minutes, 17 seconds on the five-kilometer course at the Buffalo Dunes Golf Course.
The 23rd place finish by the Lady Trojans was the highest finish for the NIACC women since they placed 13th at the 2014 national meet. The Lady Trojans entered the national meet ranked No. 21.
NIACC was paced by freshman Emma Davison, who was 62nd in a time of 21:12. The 62nd place finish was the highest individual finish for the Lady Trojans since Hannah Palmeter was third at the 2014 national meet in Lubbock, Texas.
Other counting scores for the Lady Trojans were Julia Dunlavey (115th in 21:58), Ally Trager (164th in 22:44), Cecelia Hemsworth (169th in 22:47) and Alana Wickering (175th in 22:50).
Also for NIACC, Caitlyn Regan was 202nd in 23:35 and Miricle Corbo was 260th in 25:16.
