NIACC women wrap up season at nationals

COUNCIL BLUFFS - The NIACC women's wrestling team wrapped up their second season Friday at the NJCAA Women's Wrestling Invitational at the Mid-America Center.

NIACC sophomore Gabriella Segre and freshmen Nyla Rocke and Destinee Thomas all won a pair of matches on Friday.

Segre picked up two wins at the national invitational at 143 pounds. Segre dropped her first round match and then won two matches in the consolation side of the bracket before being eliminated with a 10-0 technical fall loss to Iowa Central's Kammie Schanz.

Rocke dropped her second-round match at 130 pounds and then won a pair of matches before being eliminated with a 6-3 loss to Iowa Central's Anna Sondall.

Thomas picked up a 12-1 technical fall over Iowa Central's Cynthia Ellis (Iowa Central), 12-1 and topped Southeast's Amy Sistek, 2-1.

NIACC placed 10th at the national tournament with 19.5 points.
