NIACC's Nazario places 4th at Luther Hill Invite

INDIANOLA - NIACC's Alyssa Nazario placed fourth at 235 pounds Saturday at the Simpson College Luther Hill Invitational.

Nazario, who is from Miami, Fla., picked up four wins in her collegiate debut.

Nazario pinned Iowa Central's Cynthia Ellis in one minute, 33 seconds in her first round match. Indian Hills' Karla Padilla Zepeda, who is ranked second in the preseason NJCAA individual rankings, pinned Nazario in 1:16.

After the loss to Padilla Zepeda, Nazario pinned her NIACC teammate Destinee Thomas in 1:14. Nazario then pinned Southeast CC's Savannah Koch in :48 and gained an 11-0 technical fall over Ellsworth's Gracie Orr.

In the third-place match, Padilla Zepeda won by no contest over Nazario.
