Trojans fall to Neosho CC, Metropolitan CC

FORT DODGE - The NIACC volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Saturday at the Iowa Central Tournament.

The Trojans fell to Neosho County CC 3-0 (20-25, 20-25, 23-25) and also fell to Metropolitan CC 3-0 (22-25, 20-25, 12-25).

"We walked into the tournament knowing it was going to be a battle, especially with the injuries we have right now," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "Overall, the team played with good energy and kept fighting hard for every point. We are proud of their efforts and willingness to work for each other."

In the four matches over the weekend, freshman Megan Tobin led the Trojans with 24 kills, nine digs and two blocks. Freshman Emma Miller had 16 kills, 48 digs, five ace serves and two blocks.

Also for the Trojans, Kinsey Anderson had 63 digs, four assists and one ace serve, Addison Tabbert had 27 digs, seven kills, two assists and one ace serve and Jaden Jerome had 10 kills, eight digs and three blocks.

NIACC's Alicia Machacek had 13 kills, 13 blocks and eight digs, Destiny Reasner had seven digs and one ace serve, Ellie Hanna had 12 kills, 12 blocks and six digs and Kenedee Frayne had 31 assists, nine digs and three ace serves.

The Trojans' Kit Byars had eight kills and nine blocks, Emily Opstvedt had 42 assists and 10 digs and Alana Burton had two kills and one block.

NIACC (11-23 overall) wraps up the regular season at home Wednesday against Hawkeye CC. Match time in the NIACC gym is slated for 7 p.m,
