NIACC falls to Neosho County, Sauk Valley

FORT DODGE - The NIACC volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Saturday at the Triton Invitational.
Neosho County CC topped NIACC 3-0 (25-18, 25-8, 25-20) and Sauk Valley also topped the Trojans 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-16).
"This is always one of the hardest weekends we play - the best way to finish the tournament run is playing the best of the best," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "Tournament play is designed to challenge teams mentally, physically and demands more from everyone.
"The results didn't match our goals, but it also doesn't define this team. This group of amazing young women continue to run through the challenges, and they are better because of this opportunity."
NIACC (10-24 overall) was led by Tiegan Barkema with 16 kills, 13 digs and two ace serves. Jaida Hansen had 13 kills and five digs and Kyla Moore had 12 kills, two digs and two blocks.
Also for NIACC, Ryley Wetlaufer had 41 assists, 14 digs, three kills and three ace serves, Kaylee Ollendieck had 32 digs, two kills, three assists and two ace serves, Kennedy Schwiesow had five digs and Jade Thomas had eight digs.
NIACC's Abby Suiter had three kills, three digs and two blocks. Kalayah Kaschub had two blocks, Iwalani Beltran had seven assists, two digs and one ace serve and Alyssa Wickersheim had eight kills, two ace serves and four digs.
NIACC returns to action Wednesday at Iowa Central in an ICCAC contest. Match time is slated for 7 p.m.
