NIACC splits pair of matches at DMACC tournament

BOONE - The NIACC volleyball team split a pair of matches Saturday at the DMACC tournament.

Metropolitian CC topped NIACC 3-1 - winning 25-15, 25-19, 22-25, 25.18. NIACC topped John Wood CC 3-1 winning by the scores of 25-5, 18-25, 25-17, 25-20.

"This weekend was full of up and down moments," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said, "but (Saturday) was more of a positive uphill climb.
"We cleaned up our out-of-system plays for a better offense while also working harder on serve receive. We have another big week ahead so we will enjoy a day off and get back to work Monday."
NIACC was led by sophomore Kyla Moore with 23 kills, 10 blocks, eight digs and two ace serves. Sophomore Tiegan Barkema had 15 kills, 14 digs and four blocks and freshman Alyssa Wickersheim had 15 kills, six digs, five ace serves and three blocks.
NIACC's Ryley Wetlaufer had 59 assists, 22 digs, six kills, four ace serves and three blocks. Kaylee Ollendieck had 36 digs, seven assists, five kills and three ace serves.
Also for the Trojans, Jaida Hansen had nine kills, eight blocks and six digs, Abbie Hyde had seven digs and Kennedy Schwiesow had 16 digs, four assists and one ace serve. Jade Thomas had nine digs, Abby Suiter had three blocks and two kills and Kalayah Kaschub had six kills and three blocks.
NIACC (7-17 overall) returns to action Wednesday at home against Northeast CC in an ICCAC match that starts at 7 p.m.
