NIACC drops pair at DMACC tournament

BOONE - The NIACC volleyball team dropped a pair of matches at the DMACC tournament on Friday.

Rock Valley College topped NIACC 3-1 - winning 25-22, 27-25, 15-25, 25-20. Iowa Lakes stopped the Trojans 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-17).

"We had moments of really good volleyball," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said, "but struggled to keep momentum during the day.

"Our unforced errors was a key factor in those tight sets and something we control when we play (Saturday)."

NIACC's Kyla Moore had 21 kills with 14 digs, six blocks and two ace serves. Tiegan Barkema had 16 kills with 13 kills and three blocks.

NIACC's Ryley Wetlaufer had 53 assists, 19 digs, seven kills, four ace serves and two blocks. Jaida Hansen had 13 kills seven digs and three blocks and Kaylee Ollendieck had 20 digs, four assists and two ace serves.

Also for the Trojans, Kennedy Schwiesow had 10 digs and three ace serves, Jade Thomas had 11 digs, Abby Suiter had four kills and one block and Alyssa Wickersheim had six kills, seven ace serves and 10 digs. Kalayah Kaschub had two blocks.

NIACC returns to action Saturday at the DMACC tournament. The Trojans face Metropolitian CC at noon and John Wood CC at 2 p.m.
