NIACC drops pair at Yellowjacket Invite

ROCHESTER, Minn. - The NIACC volleyball team dropped a pair of matches at the RCTC Yellowjacket Invitational on Saturday.
Minnesota State CTC-Fergus Falls topped NIACC 3-2 (25-18, 18-25, 25-20, 29-31, 15-6). Iowa Lakes stopped NIACC 25-19, 25-19, 25-20.
"(Saturday), we saw some perseverance in our style of play - things that we have been working on since August finally working and going on way," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "We will need to continue working on the grit required to complete the job - being smarter with our choices, aggressive on offense, and scrappier on defense."
Sophomore Tiegan Barkema led NIACC with 27 kills and 20 digs. Sophomore Ryley Wetlaufer had 66 assists, 21 digs, nine kills and two blocks and Kyla Moore had 20 kills, 12 blocks and 10 digs.
NIACC's Kaylee Ollendieck had 38 digs, six ace serves and five assists. Kennedy Schwiesow had 20 digs and three ace serves.
Also for the Trojans. Jade Thomas had 12 digs, Abby Suiter had five blocks and four digs, Ella Barragy had three kills, Kalayah Kaschub had 10 kills and four blocks and Alyssa Wickersheim had 12 kills, 10 digs, three blocks and two ace serves.
NIACC (3-12 overall, 1-1 in ICCAC) returns to action Wednesday in a league match at Southeastern.
