NIACC drops pair at RCTC Invite

ROCHESTER, Minn. - The NIACC volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Friday at the RCTC Yellowjacket Invitational.

Rock Valley College topped NIACC 25-16, 25-17, 25-21. Joliet JC stopped the Trojans 25-14, 25-23, 25-18.

"It was tough competition (Friday) that we made even more of a challenge with our slow start," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "Winning isn't everything but want-to is an important foundation that we need to find."
NIACC was led by Tiegan Barkema and Kyla Moore with 13 kills each. Barkema also added 14 digs and Moore had four digs and four blocks.
NIACC's Ryley Wetlaufer had 38 assists, 17 digs and four kills. The Trojans' Kaylee Ollendieck had 19 digs.
Also for NIACC, Kennedy Schwiesow had 10 digs and three ace serves, Jade Thomas had 10 digs and Abby Suiter had four kills, four digs and three blocks. Kalayah Kaschub had seven kills and two blocks and Alyssa Wickersheim had seven kills and 10 digs.

 

NIACC (3-10 overall) returns to action Saturday at the Yellowjacket Invitational. The Trojans face Minnesota State CTC at 9 a.m. and Iowa Lakes at 1 p.m.

"(Saturday) we get another opportunity to compete, another opportunity to grow and move forward," Brandt said.
