NIACC drops pair at Northeast CC tournament

NORFOLK, Neb. - The NIACC volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Friday at the Northeast CC tournament.
NIACC (1-5 overall) lost to Allen County CC 25-16, 25-15, 25-19. Central CC-Columbus topped the Trojans 25-18, 19-25, 25-12, 25-15.
"We expected a little more from our team (Friday)," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said, "but we struggled to find much consistency.
"We knew it was going to be another challenging weekend so (Sataurday) we will need to focus on a few details and just get to work."
Freshman Jaida Hansen led the Trojans with 15 kills and four blocks. The Trojans' Tiegan Barkema had 13 kills, 19 digs and four blocks and Kyla Moore had 11 kills and two blocks.
NIACC's Alyssa Wickersheim had 10 kills, two ace serves and eight digs. The Trojans' Ryley Wetlaufer had 41 assists, 11 digs and four blocks and Kaylee Ollendieck had 37 digs and five assists.
Also for NIACC, Abbie Hyde had seven digs, Kennedy Schwiesow had 13 digs, Ella Barragy had two kills and two blocks and Kalayah Kaschub had two kills and three blocks.
In the match against Central CC-Columbus, NIACC accumulated 75 kills, which is the most in a match since the Trojans had 82 kills also against Central CC-Columbus on Oct. 15, 2021.
NIACC returns to action Saturday at the Northeast CC tournament. The Trojans face Southeast CC at 9 a.m. and host Northeast CC at 11 a.m.
