October 20, 2021
ESTHERVILLE - The NIACC volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Iowa Lakes on Wednesday in an ICCAC match.
Iowa Lakes (13-25 overall, 2-6 in the ICCAC) won 25-22, 25-23, 25-11.
"(Wednesday) was a rough night filled with mixed emotions," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "This team puts a lot of pressure on themselves especially when things aren't going our way.
"And honestly, that is a hard lesson to learn for older adults let alone freshmen and sophomores in college. They are a hard-working, high expectation type of team and that will do them well for life."
NIACC was led by Grace Tobin with 10 kills and 15 digs. Samantha Coron had 16 assists, eight digs and three kills.
Also for the Trojans, Emily Wittnebel had 17 digs and three assists, Megan Vidmar had five assists and two digs, Kalayah Kaschub had two kills and four blocks and Halsie Keltner had four kills and two blocks.
NIACC's Tiegan Barkema had seven kills and 12 digs and Kyla Moore had three kills and four blocks.
NIACC (15-23 overall, 1-7) returns to action Oct. 27 at home against Iowa Central in its regular season finale.
