NIACC falls to Ellsworth, 3-2

MASON CITY - The NIACC volleyball team dropped a 3-2 decision to Ellsworth Wednesday on sophomore night in the NIACC gym
Ellsworth won 21-25, 18-25, 25-23, 25-19, 15-13.
"We struggled to take control of the match," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said, "and we allowed ourselves to take our own self out of the game"
"We don't get a chance to over think this outcome as we have a challenging weekend tournament in Fort Dodge this weekend."
Wednesday night was sophomore night for Samantha Coron, Emily Wittnebel, Megan Vidmar, Halsie Keltner and Grace Tobin.
Tobin led NIACC with 24 kills, 16 digs, four assists, four ace serves and two blocks. Coron had 23 digs, 16 assists, six kills and three ace serves.
Also for the Trojans, Kaylee Ollendieck had 18 digs, Wittnebel had seven digs and three assists, Abby Suiter had three blocks and Ryley Wetlaufer had 20 assists and eight digs. Halsie Keltner had five kills and three blocks, Tiegan Barkema had six kills and eight digs and Kyla Moore had seven kills.
NIACC (15-18 overall, 1-6 in the ICCAC) returns to action Friday and Saturday at the Iowa Central tournament.
