BOONE - The NIACC volleyball team split a pair of matches Friday at the DMACC tournament.
The Trojans dropped a 3-2 decision to Metropolitian CC, which won 15-25, 25-20, 23-25, 25-21, 15-12.
NIACC swept Southwestern 3-0, winning 25-10, 25-21, 25-17.
"We lost a close one to a very scrappy Metropolitan team," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "We have to give them credit as defense won that match for them.
"We came back in full force, ready to go as they learned how to adapt to some lineup changes - physically and mentally playing some of the best volleyball I've seen from this group."
Grace Tobin led NIACC with 41 kills, 35 digs, four ace serves and three blocks. Samantha Coron had 64 assists, 16 digs, five kills and two blocks.
NIACC's Tiegan Barkema had 18 kills, 33 digs and three ace serves, Kyla Moore had 14 kills, seven digs and five blocks, Kaylee Ollendieck had 28 digs and three ace serves, Ryley Wetlaufer had 10 assists, three ace serves and eight digs, Halsie Keltner had eight kills and four digs and Kalayah Kaschub had five kills and four blocks.
NIACC (13-15 overall) returns to action Saturday at the DMACC Invitational. The Trojans play RCTC at noon and Ellswortha at 2 p.m.
