NIACC splits pair at NDSCS tournament

WAPHETON, N.D. - The NIACC volleyball team split a pair of matches Friday at the NDSCS tournament.

NIACC topped the University of Jamestown junior varsity 3-2 - winning 24-26, 25-23, 23-25, 26-24, 15-9. The Trojans then dropped a 3-0 decision to host NDSCS with the Wildcats winning 25-12, 25-16, 25-15.

"Tournament play has a way to develop teams and (Friday) was a complete grind with the bus ride as well as tough competition," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "We started the day strong, but struggled to find momentum for our second match."

NIACC was led by Grace Tobin with 36 kills and 22 digs. Halsie Keltner had 14 kills and 31 digs and Samantha Coron had 39 assists, 25 digs and 11 kills.

Also for NIACC, Kaylee Ollendieck had five ace serves and 21 digs, Ryley Wetlaufer had 29 assists and 19 digs and Kyla Moore had 11 kills and six blocks.

NIACC (8-10 overall) returns to action Saturday at the NDSCS tournament. The Trojans play Central Lakes College-Brainerd at 9:30 a.m. and play Bismarck State College at 1:30 p.m.
