NIACC wins pair at RCTC tournament

ROCHESTER, Minn. - The NIACC volleyball team picked up a pair of victories at the RCTC tournament on Friday.
NIACC topped host RCTC 3-2 and downed Iowa Lakes 3-0.
In the match against RCTC, the Trojans won 26-24, 23-25, 20-25, 25-19, 16-14. NIACC stopped the Lakers 25-18, 25-20, 25-21.
"We are so proud of the team for their efforts and believing in the process," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "Defensively, we stepped out of our comfort zone to make some positive changes that ultimately allowed us to keep the ball in play.
"(Saturday) will be another challenging day and we look forward to the opportunity to be back in the gym."
NIACC was led by Grace Tobin with 31 kills, 21 digs, two blocks and two ace serves. Samantha Coron had 40 assists, 14 kills, 25 digs, five ace serves and three blocks.
Also for NIACC, Kaylee Ollendieck had nine digs, Ryley Wetlaufer had two kills, two ace serves, 18 digs and 36 assists, Megan Vidmar had eight kills and four blocks and Kalayah Kaschub had seven kills and six blocks.
NIACC's Halsie Keltner had 14 kills, 2 blocks and 25 digs, Tiegan Barkema had three ace serves and 17 digs and Kyla Moore had 13 kills, seven blocks and four digs.
NIACC (4-8) returns to action Saturday at the RCTC Tournament. The Trojans play Minnesota State CTC at 10 a.m. and Rock Valley College at 2 p.m.
