NIACC drops pair at McHenry County Invite

ROCKFORD, Ill. - The NIACC volleyball team dropped a pair of matches to rated teams on Saturday at the McHenry County CC Invitational.

No. 17 (NJCAA Division II) Lincoln Land CC topped NIACC 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-15) and No. 2 (NJCAA Division II) Parkland College stopped the Trojans 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-12).

"This was an incredible weekend of learning," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "Short in healthy bodies, but I'm grateful for the growth we all took from the opportunity to play.

"We are very proud of the team effort and their ability to adapt to many challenges and changes this weekend."

NIACC was led by Grace Tobin and Megan Vidmar with 10 kills apiece. Samantha Coron had eight kills, 21 assists and 20 digs.

Tobin also had 11 digs and two ace serves and Vidmar added two blocks.

Also for the Trojans, Kaylee Ollendieck had 13 digs, Kalayah Kaschub had three kills and Tiegan Barkema had four kills and five digs. Kyla Moore had eight kills and three blocks.

NIACC (1-3 overall) returns to action Aug. 27-28 at Southeastern's Jimmy John's Invitational in West Burlington.
