No. 18 NIACC picks up 30th victory

MASON CITY - The No. 18 NIACC volleyball team picked up its 30th victory of the season with a 3-0 sweep of the Wartburg College junior varsity during Think Pink night on Thursday.
Set scores were 25-21, 25-18 and 25-13 in the Lady Trojans' final home match of the regular season.
"This match is always so important to our team as we help the fight against cancer," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "We appreciate all our fans, friends, families and co-workers who make this event possible."
Leading the Lady Trojans (30-8) offensively was Kennedy Meister, who recorded 17 kills while adding 21 digs and two service aces. Becca Steffen added 15 assists, 11 digs, three kills and three service aces while Shelby Heston had six kills, six service aces and five digs for NIACC, which recorded its first 30-win season under Brandt and first 30-win season since 1995.
Also for NIACC, Bri Powers had nine digs, Kayla Lentz had eight digs, Alexa Loftus had seven digs, Tessa Sienknecht had six digs and six assists, Sarah Kimberly had four kills and two blocks and Braylee Wood had three blocks.
NIACC returns to action on Wednesday when the Lady Trojans travel to Fort Dodge to face No. 12 Iowa Central in their ICCAC finale. The teams are tied atop the conference with 7-1 records.
