NIACC volleyball team drops pair

WAPHETON, N.D. - The NIACC volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Saturday at the NDSCS tournament.

NIACC fell to Bismarck State College 18-25, 25-17, 14-25, 22-25 and fell to Williston State College 25-20, 22-25, 21-25, 25-23, 7-15.

"We lost both (Saturday)," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said, "but the outcome doesn't begin to tell the story of this team.

"This weekend was all about playing hard for each other and finding their team. We are incredibly proud of their grit and character during some unique situations this weekend."

Sophomore Becca Konz led the Lady Trojans with 20 kills on Saturday. Freshman Hannah Wagner had 18 kills, 15 digs and three blocks.

Also for the Lady Trojans, Amanda Borden had 30 digs and nine kills, Sammi Hyde had 29 digs, Kyra Marquez had 21 digs, Brooke Greenwood had 13 kills and three blocks, Sammi Hyde had 29 digs and Sydney Roush had 75 assists and 19 digs.

NIACC (2-8 overall, 0-2 in ICCAC) returns to action Wednesday in an ICCAC match at Southeastern in West Burlington. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
