NIACC volleyball team drops pair of matches in Dells

WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. - The NIACC volleyball team dropped a pair of matches at the Battle In The Dells Showcase on Saturday.

NIACC (1-3 overall) fell to Glen Oaks CC 14-25, 11-25, 20-25 and dropped a 3-0 (17-25, 14-25, 18-25) decision to No. 3 (NJCAA Division II) Owens CC in the final day of the two-day showcase.

"We knew (Saturday) was going to be a tough day," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said, "but we saw some great growth as we played.

"We have some specific things we need to fix but it was an exciting way to finish the tournament."

Hannah Wagner and Brooke Greenwood led the Lady Trojans on Saturday with nine kills apiece. Greenwood also led the way with 10 blocks.

Also for the Lady Trojans Saturday, Amanda Borden had 16 assists, nine digs and three blocks, Connor Gauch had 13 digs, Sammi Hyde had 10 digs and Sydney Roush had 19 assists and nine digs.

NiACC opens up play in the ICCAC at Southwestern on Wednesday. The Lady Trojans open their home season Friday against the Wartburg College Junior Varsity.

Notes: Borden has 64 career digs and 27 career assists ... Greenwood has 153 career kills and 117 career blocks ... Becca Konz has 117 career kills and 48 career blocks.
