NIACC's Whittington, Niedert earn all-region honors

MASON CITY - NIACC freshman Kaylee Whittington has been selected to the NJCAA Region XI second team.

NIACC sophomore Karlie Niedert was a NJCAA Region XI honorable mention selection.

Whittington also was a NJCAA Region XI-B first-team selection and Niedert was earned second-team NJCAA Region XI-B honors.

Whittington was also selected to the NJCAA Region XI all-tournament team.

Whittington, who prepped at Grand View Christian, collected 420 kills, 413 digs, 55 blocks and 24 ace serves during her freshman season. The 420 kills is the most since Casey Spree had 440 kills in the 1999 season.

Niedert, who prepped at Independence, collected 251 kills and 135 blocks in her sophomore season. She finished with a total of 348 kills and 237 blocks.
