NIACC's Scrivner places 6th in 400 at Butler Classic
DUBUQUE - NIACC freshman Brian Jacques earned all-American honors at the NJCAA Division I national cross country meet last fall.
The freshman started his initial indoor track and field season with a bang on Saturday by winning the mile at the University of Dubuque Solomon Butler Classic in a time of 4 minutes, 28.34 seconds.
Jacques also placed ninth in the 1,000-meter run in a time of 2:47.26.
NIACC placed sixth in the team standings with 38 points. Host Dubuque was the men's team champion with 155 points.
NIACC sophomore Blake Keller was second in the 3,000 in 9:14.60, Timothi McMaster was sixth in the 55-meter dash (6.68) and eighth in the 200 (23.41).
The Trojans' 4x400-meter relay team of David Carter, Hunter Filloon, Akahnni Delgado and Hennigar was fifth in 3:37.37.
In the 400, NIACC's Ethan Klasi was fifth (53.45). Kyle Younker was seventh (54.46) and Scott Hengesteg was 10th (54.64).
In the 600, Delgado was sixth (1:27.44) and Hennigar was ninth (1:30.00).
In the long jump, NIACC's Brandon Bluhm was eighth with a leap of 21 feet, 3 1/4 inches.
The NIACC women placed 10th in their season-opening indoor meet with six points. Loras was the women's team champion with 132.5 points.
NIACC's Jaylynn Scrivner was sixth in the 400 in a time of 1:07.56.
The Lady Trojans' 4x400 team of Ally Trager, Amy Fullerton, Keisha Gonzague and Scrivner was seventh in 4:39.51.
Gonzague was ninth in the 600 (1:51.26).
The NIACC men and women return to action Saturday, Jan. 20 at the Wartburg College Chelsey M. Henkenius Open in Waverly.
