Bio

Basil Minto begins his seventh season as an assistant coach with the NIACC men's wrestling program in the 2023-24 season.

Minto, who is also in his second season as the head NIACC women's wrestling coach, was a two-time all-American at NIACC in 2012 and 2013 and compiled a career record of 52-9. Minto was 25-5 as a freshman and 27-4 in his sophomore season.

In the first season of women's wrestling at NIACC in the 2022-23 season, Minto guided the Trojans to a eighth-place finish at the national tournament with four all-Americans. NIACC's Chiara Barbieri (101) placed third, Laken Lienhard (143) and Valerie Smith (235) placed fourth and Tatiana Hernandez (109) placed sixth.

Minto placed fifth at 184 pounds at the national tournament both seasons as a Trojan.

Minto also wrestled for two seasons (2013-2015) at the University of Northern Iowa. Minto was sixth at the MAC Championships in his senior season and qualified for the NCAA tournament.

Minto graduated from Mariner High School in Cape Coral, Fla. in 2011 where he was a 4-year letterwinner in wrestling. He placed fourth at the state meet in his senior year at 171 pounds and was fourth as a junior at 160 pounds.
