NIACC faces Ellsworth in dual opener
MASON CITY - The NIACC wrestling team opens its dual meet season at home tonight against Ellsworth.
Match time is slated for 7 p.m. in the NIACC gym.
NIACC started its 2018-19 season last Saturday at the Luther College Open in Decorah. Three NIACC wrestlers placed third in the silver division.
NIACC's Hunter Luke (141), Dakota Vance (174) and Holt Truax (197) all gained third-place finishes.
Luke topped Wartburg College's Brady Fritz 7-2 in his third-place match. Vance pinned UW-La Crosse's Levi Larken in 25 seconds in his third-place match and Truax stopped UW-La Crosse's Lawrence Thomas 12-9 in his consolation match.
Also for the Trojans in the silver division, Zach Santee was fourth (285), Tony Mendoza (149) was fifth, Reldon Miller was fifth (184), Hunter Hagen (197) was fifth and Isaiah Martinez was eighth (285).
NIACC's Quinn Murphy placed sixth in the elite division at 149 pounds.
