No. 11 NIACC hosts No. 1 Ellsworth on mat

MASON CITY - The No. 11 NIACC wrestling team hosts top-ranked Ellsworth in a dual meet Wednesday night in the NIACC gym.

Match time is set for 7 p.m.

NIACC opened its season on Nov. 8 with a 33-9 dual-meet loss at No. 2 Iowa Western. The Trojans picked up wins from top-ranked Austin Anderly at 141, Noah Jackson at 157 and seventh-ranked Ryan Faught at 165.

Jackson picked up a 10-7 decision over Iowa Western's third-ranked Tell Ward.

Ellsworth topped No. 4 Iowa Central in its season-opening dual last week 23-18.

Ellsworth competed in the Grand View Open on Nov. 11. The Panthers' top-ranked 157-pounder Steven Lawrence placed fourth in the open division. For the Panthers in the freshman/sophomore division, Scott Cook (141) was second, Josh Adams (149) was fourth and Darrell Mason (285) was first and Patrick DePiazza (285).

In Wednesday's dual, NIACC's Jackson will get another shot at a ranked wrestler when he faces top-ranked Lawrence in their 157-pound match.

At 184 pounds, NIACC's fourth-ranked Jaylen Lee faces Ellsworth's fifth-ranked Anthony Collins.
