NIACC's Phillips places sixth at UNI Open

CEDAR FALLS - NIACC sophomore 285-pounder Lawrence Phillips placed sixth at the UNI Open Saturday.

Phillips won his first three matches by fall and then dropped a 5-3 decision to Northern Iowa's JJ Everard in the quarterfinals.

Northwestern's Zack Chakonis topped Phillips by injury default in the consolation semifinals.

Also for NIACC on Saturday, Seth Niichel went 0-2 at 165 pounds and Jakubb Fahrenkrug went 0-2 also at 165 pounds.

Notes: Phillips is 4-3 this season with 4 falls ... Phillips has a career record of 24-10 with 16 falls and 1 major decision.
