NJCAA REGION 11 TOURNAMENTS
The following is a look at the national qualifiers and how NIACC teams fared at the regional, district and national tournaments since Chris Frenz took over the NIACC golf program in 2007:
2007: National qualifiers: Whitney Weber (7th, 84), Kayli Jones (9th, 85), Brittany Lockwood (10th, 90). The team placed fourth at the one-day NJCAA Region XI tournament at Fox Run Golf Course in Council Bluffs with a 362.
2008: National qualifiers: Brittany O'Brien (6th, 80-94 - 174); Kayli Jones (10th, 92-89 - 181). The team placed fourth at the two-day NJCAA Region XI tournament at Brooks National in Okoboji with a 747.
2009: National qualifier: Brittany O'Brien (6th, 80-86 - 166). The team placed fourth at the NJCAA Region XI tournament at Brooks National in Okoboji with a 391-389 - 780.
2010: National qualifier: Cristina Monson (7th, 87-91). Team placed fourth at the NJCAA Region XI tournament with a 395-378 - 773 at the two-day NJCAA Region XI tournament at Otter Creek in Ankeny.
2011: National qualifiers: Cristina Monson (8th, 94-89 - 183), Taylor Evenson (13th, 90-94 - 193). Team placed fourth at the two-day NJCAA Region XI tournament at Otter Creek in Ankeny with a 401-388 - 789.
2012: National qualifiers: Mikayla Smith (2nd, 91-80 - 171), Alexandria Eckenrod (5th, 93-85 - 178), Sarah Steinauer (15th, 107-83). Team placed third at the two-day NJCAA Region XI tournament at Otter Creek in Ankeny with a 399-343 - 742.
2013: National qualifiers: Mikayla Smith (tied for 4th, 82-78 - 160), Sarah Steinauer (8th, 89-86 - 175), Alexandria Eckenrod (tied for 9th, 88-88 - 176), Moriah Sherman (14th, 96-84 - 180). Team finished 2nd at NJCAA Region XI meet at Otter Creek in Ankeny with a 355-336 - 691.
2014: National qualifier: Kaitlin Koob (14th, 90-97 - 187 at NJCAA Region XI meet at Otter Creek in Ankeny). Other finishers: Britne Kingery 96-106 - 202; Mariah Dillavou 101-106 - 207.
2015: National qualifiers: Savannah Lentz (tied for 8th, 81-85 - 166). Team placed fourth at NJCAA Region XI meet at Otter Creek in Ankeny with a 357-365 - 722. Other finishers: Bailey Walter 92-90 - 182; Kaitlyn Koob 90-94 - 184; Josie Leyh 94-96 - 190; Carlie Eckenrod 99-99 - 198.
2016: National qualifiers: Savannah Lentz (7th, 84-47 - 131); Carlie Eckenrod (12th, 92-45 - 137); Bailey Walter (13th, 90-50 - 140). Walter recorded par on 1st playoff hole to earn trip to national tournament). Team placed fourth in the 27-hole tournament with a 548. The tournament was shortened to 27 holes due to inclement weather on Day 2 at Otter Creek in Ankeny. Other finishers: Lyndie Phillips 90-50 - 140; Alyssa Purman 99-48 - 148.
2017: National qualifiers: Brooke Maasch (T10th, 90); Courtney Tusler (T12, 95). Team placed fourth with a one-day 381 as tournament was shortened to 18 holes due to inclement weather at Otter Creek in Ankeny. Other finishers: Alyssa Purman 97, Katelyn Loegering 99 and Kelli Wilson 100.
2018: National qualifier: Courtney Tusler (8th, 88-83-90-85 - 346). Team placed fourth with a 4-day total of 361-359-375-353 - 1,448 at Otter Creek in Ankeny. Other finishers: Sydney Fullerton (89-93-90-92 - 364); Morgan Luecht (92-95-99-87 - 373); Ashley Alert (98-91-96-89 - 374); Katelyn Loegering (94-93-100-97 - 384).
2019: National qualifier: Jordyn Barragy (15th, 91-86-88-51 - 316). Team placed fourth with a 63-hole total of 366-361-353-204 - 1,284 at Otter Creek in Ankeny. Other finishers: Sydney Fullerton (89-93-87-50 - 319); Morgan Luecht (92-87-88-54 - 321); Ashley Alert (94-95-90-49 - 328). The tournament was shortened to 9 holes on the fourth and final day due to inclement weather.
2020: No regional tournament was played as season was called off due to COVID-19.
2021: National qualifier: Thea Lunning (4th, 87-82 - 169). Team placed fourth with a 392-376 - 768 at Otter Creek in Ankeny. Other finishers: Hailey Panos (93-105 - 198), Ashley Voves (103-95 - 198), Abby Murray (109-94 - 203), Jenna Paulus (117-114 - 231).
NJCAA PLAINS DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP
2022: Team placed 8th at NJCAA Plains District Championship at Rolling Hills Golf Course in Milford, Kan. with a 377-357 - 734. Kirsten Boerjan shot 90-86 - 176, Alyssa Alert shot 94-90 - 184, Hailey Panos shot 92-92 - 184, Sophie Lunning shot 102-89 - 191 and Ashley Voves shot 101-93 - 194.
2023: Team placed 6th at NJCAA Plains District Championship at the Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny with a 360-367 - 727. Alyssa Alert shot 81-90 - 171, Kirsten Boerjan shot 95-86 - 181, Emma Weiner shot 93-93 - 186, Sophie Lunning shot 91-98 - 189 and Karissa Hoon shot 113-106 - 219.
2024: Team placed 9th at the NJCAA Plains District Championship at Mariah Hills Golf Course in Dodge City, Kan. with a 418-391 - 809. Emma Weiner shot 95-90 - 185, Paige Danger shot 97-91 - 188, Cameran Moellers shot 102-98 - 200 and Karissa Hoon shot 124-112 - 236.
