NIACC's Barragy shoots final day 103
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - NIACC freshman Jordyn Barragy shot a final-day 103 (53-49) Thursday at the LPGA International golf course in the NJCAA Division I national women's golf tournament.
Barragy, who prepped at Clear Lake, shot rounds of 100-97-103 - 300 to tie for 100th in the 54-hole national tournament. The tournament was shortened to 54 holes due to the first round getting rained out on Monday.
"I'm very proud of the way Jordyn approached the championship tournament," NIACC coach Chris Frenz said. "She didn't play her best and that's extremely frustrating, but she had a great attitude each day and really did what she could to score."
Barragy earned her trip to the national tournament by earning the final qualifying spot at the NJCAA Region XI tournament in a playoff.
"Championship golf is a different level and for someone that contemplated not even continuing to golf in college I can't say enough for how much she's grown on the course this year," Frenz said. "She did a great job representing herself and NIACC here at the national tournament."
