NIACC sits in fourth after Day 2 at regional tournament
ANKENY - The NIACC women's golf team is in fourth place after the second round of the NJCAA Region XI tournament at Otter Creek Golf Course on Saturday.
The Lady Trojans shot a season low 359 in the second round after opening with a 361 on Friday for a two-day total of 720. Iowa Western leads the four-day regional tournament with a 337-324 - 661.
The second weekend of the tournament is set for April 27-28, also at Otter Creek.
The winning team and the next 10 individuals (not from the winning team) will represent the region at the NJCAA Division I national tournament at the Longbow Golf Course in Mesa, Ariz. May 14-17.
NIACC's Courtney Tusler is in sixth place in the individual medalist competition (minus the players from Iowa Western) with a 88-83 - 171. The Lady Trojans' Sydney Fullerton is in a 3-way tie for eighth place with a 89-93 - 182.
NIACC's Brooke Maasch sits in 11th place (92-92 - 184). The Lady Trojans' Morgan Luecht is in a tie for 14th (92-95 - 187) with teammate Katelyn Loegering, who is playing as an individual (94-93 - 187). The Lady Trojans' Ashley Alert (98-91 - 189) is in 16th place.
