NIACC women roll, 106-36
WAHPETON, N.D. - The NIACC women's basketball team cruised to a 106-36 victory over Minnesota North-Itasca Saturday at the AmericaInn Classic.
NIACC (4-1 overall) led 30-5 after the first quarter and pushed its lead to 66-24 at the half. The Trojans outscored Minnesota North-Itasca 43-12 in the second half.
The 106 points by the Trojans is the second-highest point total in the Brad Vaught era. Last season, the Trojans topped the William Penn Junior Varsity 109-40.
It is the fourth time in the Vaught era that the Trojans have scored at least 100 points in a contest.
In Saturday's contest, freshman Sonya Pothoff led five Trojans in double figures with 14 points. Pothoff was 7 of 7 from the field.
Madison Hillman, Tori Miller and Zhane Singer all scored 12 points for the Trojans.
NIACC's Grace Davis-Chavez scored 10 points and collected 11 rebounds for her second career double/double. Last season, Davis-Chavez scored 22 points with 10 rebounds in against the William Penn Junior Varsity.
NIACC returns to action Tuesday at home against Anoka-Ramsey CC. Game time in the NIACC gym is slated for 5:30 p.m.
