NIACC's Pippett signs with MSU-Denver
DENVER - NIACC's Jackie Pippett has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball at Metropolitan State University-Denver, a NCAA Division II school, for the 2023-24 season.
Pippett, a 6-foot-0 inch post player from Ankeny, was a second-team all-ICCAC Division II selection in the 2022-23 season.
"We are excited to welcome Jackie Pippett to the Roadrunner family," said MSU-Denver coach Tanya Haave, who will begin her 14th season as coach of the Roadrunnres. "Jackie fills an important need for us in the post/forward position along with bringing two years of college experience with her.
"She is a versatile player who can get to the rim, play with her back to the basket, and is now adding a three-point shot to her repertoire."
Pippett averaged 10.2 points per game with 76 steals and 170 rebounds during her sophomore campaign with the Trojans.
Pippett scored 591 career points which ranks 36th on NIACC's career scoring list. She collected 325 rebounds (20th on school's career list) with 102 career steals (39th on school's career list).
"I also feel like her athleticism will be a tremendous asset for us defensively and in the rebound game and these are areas we needed to improve upon from last season," said Haave, who played at Tennessee in the 1980s for legendary coach Pat Summitt. "Her work ethic, attitude, and competitive spirit will fit in with our current roster and we can hardly wait to start coaching her."
MSU-Denver was 16-14 overall and 14-10 in the 14-team Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in the 2022-23 season.
