Martinez-Stewart leads NIACC past Northeast CC, 84-55

MASON CITY - Sophomore Audrey Martinez-Stewart recorded her first career triple/double to lift the NIACC women's basketball team to a 84-55 victory over Northeast CC on Saturday in an ICCAC contest in the NIACC gym.

Martinez-Stewart scored 16 points with 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Martinez-Stewart was 7 of 13 from the field, including two three point goals.

It was the first triple/double for a NIACC women's player since Sierra Morrow scored  29 points with 17 rebounds and 12 blocks against Lincoln Land CC on Dec. 7, 2019.

The 10 assists by Martinez-Stewart was the most in a game for the NIACC women since Martinez-Stewart recorded a career-high 13 assists against DMACC on Feb. 10, 2022.

Freshman Kameron Jones led the Trojans in scoring with 23 points. Sophomore Kourtney Manning was also in double figures with 11 points.

Manning collected eight rebounds with five steals, four blocks and four assists. Jackie Pippett scored eight points with five rebounds, three blocks and two assists.

The Trojans' Shakyla Walker had eight assists, four rebounds and four steals.

NIACC (11-5 overall, 4-1 in the ICCAC) returns to action Saturday, Jan. 14 at home against Kirkwood. Game time in the NIACC gym is slated for 1 p.m.
