No. 2 NIACC women gain top seed

MASON CITY - The No. 2 NIACC women's basketball team earned the top seed for the NJCAA Region XI tournament.

NIACC will host either Little Priest Tribal College or Ellsworth in its tournament opener on Wednesday. Game time is slated for 5:30 p.m. in the NIACC gym

Little Priest Tribal College and Ellsworth meet in a first-round game on Monday.

NIACC and Kirkwood shared the ICCAC regular season title and the Lady Trojans garnered the No. 1 seed on the third tie-breaker.

NIACC (24-5) enters the post-season riding a 12-game winning streak.

1st Round - Monday, March 4

(9) Ellsworth at (8) Little Priest - Winnebago, Neb. - 5:30 p.m.

2nd Round - Wednesday, March 6

Winner of 8/9 at (1) NIACC - Mason City - 5:30 p.m.

(5) Iowa Central at (4) Iowa Lakes - Estherville - 5:30 p.m.

(6) Southeastern at (3) DMACC - Boone - 5:30 p.m.

(7) Southwestern at (2) Kirkwood - Cedar Rapids - 5:30 p.m.

Semi-Finals - Saturday, March 9 at Highest Remaining Seed

Winner of 3/6 vs. Winner of 2/7 - 1 p.m.

Winner of 4/5 vs. Winner of 1/8 - 3 p.m.

Championship - Sunday, March 10 at Semifinal Location - 1 p.m.
