No. 16 NIACC women win 15th straight home game
MASON CITY - The No. 16 NIACC women's basketball team stopped Iowa Lakes 94-71 for its 15th straight home victory Wednesday night in the NIACC gym.
NIACC was led by sophomore Taylor Laabs with 19 points, six rebounds and five steals. The Lady Trojans also received 17 points from freshman Mikayla Homola and 16 points from sophomore UU Longs.
In the 15-game home winning streak, the Lady Trojans have outscored their opponents 1,417 to 963. The last loss for the Lady Trojans at home was a 71-65 loss to Kirkwood on Feb. 1, 2017.
NIACC (17-5 overall, 4-2 in the ICCAC) has won 17 straight games against Iowa Lakes.
NIACC, which led 49-40 at the half, forced Iowa Lakes into 47 turnovers.
Also for the Lady Trojans on Wednesday, Khalilah Holloway scored eight points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds. Kelsie Willert, who scored six points, had six assists and grabbed five rebounds.
NIACC returns to action Saturday in an ICCAC contest at Southwestern.
