NIACC's Longs earns ICCAC weekly honor
MASON CITY - NIACC sophomore guard UU Longs has been selected as the ICCAC women's basketball player of the week for the week of Nov. 20-26.
Longs, a 5-feet-1 guard from Minneapolis, scored 61 points in four games as the Lady Trojans improved their record to 9-0. She also had 14 rebounds, 14 assists and eight steals in the four victories.
Longs scored a career-high 24 points with five rebounds, four assists and two steals against Rock Valley College on Nov. 24. She also scored 16 points with six rebounds and five assists against the Grand View University Junior Varsity on Nov. 26.
Longs averages 12.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.4 steals per game.
Longs is the third NIACC women's basketball player to be selected as the ICCAC player of the week. Taylor Laabs earned the honor for the week of Nov. 13-19 and freshman Mikayla Homola was the league's player of the week for the week of Oct. 30-Nov. 5.
NIACC returns to action Friday and Saturday at the Iowa Central Classic in Fort Dodge. The Lady Trojans face Northest CC at 1 p.m. Friday and play Central CC-Columbus at noon on Saturday.
