No. 20 NIACC faces Iowa Lakes in tourney opener
BOONE - The No. 20 NIACC softball team will face Iowa Lakes at 4 p.m. on Friday in the opening round of the NJCAA Region 11-B tournament on the DMACC campus.
NIACC (31-21 overall) earned the No. 3 seed for the regional tournament with a ICCAC record of 20-8. Iowa Lakes (18-30 overall, 9-19 ICCAC) is the tournament's sixth seed.
No. 9 DMACC (41-9, 24-4) is the tournament's No. 2 seed and faces seventh-seed Hawkeye CC (7-37, 3-25) at 2 p.m. Friday in its tourney opener.
NIACC won all four contests this season against Iowa Lakes. The Trojans won 15-2 in six innings and 21-4 in five innings on April 10 and also swept the Lakerss 7-3 and 12-4 in five innings on April 17.
The winner of the NJCAA Region 11-B tournament advances to the district tournament May 10-11 at the site of the NJCAA Region 13 champion. The winner of the 3-game series in the district tournament advances to the NJCAA Division II World Series May 20-25 in Spartanburg, S.C.
