BURLINGTON - The NIACC softball team picked up a pair of wins Friday.
NIACC (8-6) topped Southeastern CC 5-4 and blanked Heartland CC 8-0 in six innings.
In the one-run win over Southeastern CC, freshman right-hander Emily Rigdon (2-1) gained the win in the circle. She allowed four runs (none earned) while allowing three hits with a career-best eight strikeouts.
NIACC's Izzy Sloan and Ariana Lopez both collected two hits. Katy Olive hit a solo home run (her fifth of the season and 19th of her career) and Emily Jones drove in a run with a double.
Olive's 19 home runs ranks sixth on NIACC's career home run list.
Against Heartland CC, NIACC's Macy Kellar (4-3) tossed a 3-hit shutout. The freshman right-hander, who prepped at Newman Catholic, struck out nine in six innings of work.
It was Kellar's second career shutout. She also blanked Indian Hills on Feb. 16.
The Trojans hit a season-high five home runs, including two from Madisyn Bauer. Jones, Madisyn Kelley and Madi Elwood also hit homers in the 8-run victory.
Bauer, Jones Kelley all now have three home runs this season. Jones now has 18 career home runs, which is tied for seventh on the school's career list, and Elwood's home run was the first of her career.
Earlier this season, the Trojans hit four home runs against Indian Hills on March 1, including two from Olive.
NIACC returns to action Wednesday with a pair of games in Overland Park, Kan. The Trojans face Johnson County at 12:30 p.m. and Iowa Western at 3 p.m.
