NIACC stays perfect with pair of wins

WEST BURLINGTON - The NIACC softball team moved its record to 8-0 with two wins Saturday night at Southeastern Turf Tournament in the Southeastern CC Dome.

NIACC cruised to a 22-1 five-inning victory over Morton College and also picked up an 11-1 five-inning win over Black Hawk College-Moline.

The Trojans won a pair of games Friday at the Southeastern Turf Tournament. They topped North Platte CC 17-4 in five innings and blanked Southeastern CC 7-0.

In Saturday's win over Morton College, freshman right-hander Emily Jones (2-0) gained the win in the circle for NIACC. She allowed one earned run on four hits with three strikeouts. Jones was also 3 for 3, including two doubles, with three RBIs.

Sophomore Laken Lienhard was 3 for 3 with three RBIs. Sophomore Ravyn Krachey was 3 for 3, including two doubles, and a career-high five RBIs.

Also for the Trojans, sophomore Shaye Theobald was 2 for 3 with three RBIs.

NIACC collected nine doubles in the 21-run victory.

it was the second time this season that the Trojans have scored at least 20 runs in a contest. In their season-opening weekend in South Dakota on Feb. 5, NIACC blanked Lake Region State College 23-0 in five innings.

In the win over Black Hawk College-Moline, freshman right-hander Brynn Stalberger (4-0) picked up the win allowing one earned run on four hits with four strikeouts.

NIACC pounded out 12 hits, including nine doubles

The Trojans wrap up the three-day tournament at Southeastern with a pair of games on Sunday.
