NIACC, Southwestern split pair

MASON CITY - The NIACC softball team split an ICCAC doubleheader Saturday against Southwestern on the NIACC campus.

NIACC won the first game 13-9 and dropped the nightcap 20-12. The Lady Trojans' Hailey Worman drove in a total of 12 runs in the twinbill - six in each game.

The last time a NIACC player had six RBIs in a game was Hannah Faktor against North Central Missouri College in first game of a doubleheader on March 27, 2019.

In the first game, NIACC's Hailey Worman hit two home runs - a 3-run home run in the second inning and a 2-run homer in the fourth inning. The Lady Trojans also received solo home runs from Laken Lienhard and Anna Lensing in the first inning.

It was the first time NIACC hit four home runs in a game since the Lady Trojans hit four against Southwestern in second game of doubleheader on April 26, 2019.

Lienhard was 5 for 5, including three doubles and a home run, with two RBIs. Worman was 4 for 4 with six RBIs.

The last time a NIACC player had five hits in a game was the 2018 season when Courtney Johannes had five against RCTC on Feb. 24, 2018.

Southwestern's Brylee Kemper hit two home runs with four RBIs.

In the second game, Southwestern hit five home runs from five different players. The Spartans pounded out 25 hits to score their 20 runs.

Worman hit a 3-run home run in the third inning for the Lady Trojans. Worman was 3 for 4 with six RBIs.

Also for the Lady Trojans, Riley Nelson collected two hits and Kennadi Colbert had two hits.

NIACC and Southwestern wrap up their four-game series with a doubleheader on Sunday starting at noon.
