NIACC softball team sweeps Northeast CC

BOONE - The NIACC softball team pushed its winning streak to four games.

NIACC swept a ICCAC doubleheader from Northeast CC on the DMACC campus. NIACC won the first game 9-8 in eight innings with a walkoff RBI single from Katie Chapman.

The Lady Trojans (15-17 overall, 6-4 in the ICCAC) won the second game 10-2 in five innings.

In the first game, Alyssa Laxson led the Lady Trojan offense with two home runs and five RBIs. She hit a three-run home run and a two-run home run.

Chapman collected three hits and drove in three runs.

In the second game, NIACC's Morgan Thesing-Ritter drove in four runs. Chapman and Laxson both drove in two runs.

Courtney Johannes gained the win for the Lady Trojans. She allowed two runs on four hits with one strikeout and three walks in five innings of work.

NIACC returns to action Thursday in a league twinbill at Ellsworth. The first game is slated to start at 2 p.m.
