NIACC's Sherwood earns ICCAC player of week honor

MASON CITY - For the third time this season, a NIACC softball player has been selected as the ICCAC player of the week.

NIACC freshman Kaci Sherwood earned the award for the week of March 19-25.

NIACC sophomore Courtney Johannes was the ICCAC pitcher of the week for the week of Feb. 26-March 4 and Morgan Thesing-Ritter was the player of the week for the week of March 5-11.

For the week, Sherwood, who is from Martensdale, Iowa, was 8 for 14 with three home runs. She drove in five runs and also scored five runs in the Lady Trojans' four games during the week,

Sherwood is hitting .459 with seven home runs, 10 doubles and 32 RBIs.

NIACC (9-13 overall) returns to action Friday in its ICCAC opener against Iowa Central. The doubleheader, which starts at 1 p.m., will be held at William Penn University in Oskaloosa.
