NIACC splits pair with Viterbo
AUSTIN, Minn. - The NIACC softball team split a doubleheader with Viterbo University on Thursday at the Westcott Athletic Complex.
NIACC won the first game 13-12 and dropped the second game 9-6.
In the first game, NIACC's Kaitlyn Carlson drove in four runs and Courtney Johannes drove in three runs. Also, Morgan Thesing-Ritter, Kaci Sherwood and Johannes all had three hits apiece.
In the second game, Thesing-Ritter collected two hits and scored two runs. Johannes and Kayla Till both had two hits and Sherwood drove in two runs.
NIACC (1-1) returns to action Feb. 24-25 at the Ellsworth Tournament in Austin, Minn. The Lady Trojans play RCTC at noon and Southeastern at 2 p.m. on Feb. 24 and face Bryant & Stratton (Wis.) at 10 a.m. and Southeastern at 2 p.m. on Feb. 25.
Notes: Thesing-Ritter has 87 career hits and 43 career stolen bases, which ranks 8th on school's career list ... Shelby Low has 35 career hits, 6 career doubles and 25 career RBIs.
