NIACC stays alive with 13-5 win over Northeast

BOONE - The NIACC softball team topped Northeast CC 13-5 in six innings in an elimination game at the NJCAA Region XI-B tournament Monday morning.

NIACC faces the loser of the DMACC/Iowa Central game at 2 p.m. in another elimination game.

NIACC trailed 3-0 after the first inning but ralled to score four runs in the fifth inning and added six more in the sixth inning to stay alive in the regional tournament.

Lexy Pederson gained the win in the circle for the Lady Trojans. She struck out seven and walked two and allowed five runs on eight hits.

Pederson also added a solo home run in the second inning. Pederson was 3 for 4 with three RBIs and scored two runs.

Also for the Lady Trojans, Tricia Notermann had three hits, Kendall Cornick had two hits and Brittany Florea had two hits, including two doubles and three RBIs.
