NIACC set to run at Augustana Twilight meet
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The NIACC men's and women's cross country teams return to action Friday night at the eighth annual Augustana University Twilight meet at Yankton Trail Park.
The women's college 5-kilometer race starts at 8:30 p.m. The men's college four-mile race is slated to begin at 9 p.m.
The NIACC men's team opened its season Aug. 25 at the NJCAA Region XI time trial in Davenport. The Trojans placed third with 72 points.
The Trojans were led by sophomore Abdiaziz Wako, who placed fifth in the 5-kilometer race in 17 minutes, 30 seconds.
Other counting scores for the Trojans at the regional time trial were freshman Evan Wilson (eighth in 17:45), Gavin Connell (19th in 18:20), Sam Pedelty (20th in 18:34) and Daniel Hennigar (23rd in 18:40).
Also for the Trojans, Grant Dieken was 38th (19:19), Zane Miller was 46th (20:02), Seon Clarke was 52nd (20:15) and Derek Carpenter was 69th (28:18).
At last season's Twilight meet, NIACC was 12th in the college division with 341 points. Brian Jacques led the Trojans with a 35th-place finish in 20:25 in the 4-mile race.
