NIACC's DMR places third at regionals

STORM LAKE - The NIACC men's distance medley relay team placed third on Saturday the regional meet.

NIACC earned its third-place finish in a time of 10 minutes, 58.46 seconds.

NIACC placed fifth in the team standings with 26 points. Iowa Central was the men's team champion with 293 points and Iowa Western was a distant second with 112 points.

The NIACC men picked up three fourth-place finishes from Logan Benjegerdes in the 60-meter hurdles (8.73), Jorge Ruiz in the 1,000-meter run (2:37.41) and Marcel Smith in the high jump (1.73 meters).

Also for the Trojans, Tinashe Chigudu was 10th in the 200 (22.76), Jordan McKnight was ninth in the 400 (52.53) and Kameron Glasper was ninth in the weight throw (12.40 meters). Jalen Petersen placed seventh in the 3,000 (9:17.17) and eighth in the mile (4:48.84).

NIACC was fourth in the 4x800 (8:22.08).
